Monday, August 1st First Day of School
The Cobb County School District is excited to announce the 2016 KiDtalk winners. The KiDtalk contest was designed to give students the forum to share their groundbreaking ideas to an audience of their teachers. The contest invites students in all grades and of all ages to record a “talk” that focuses on great, innovative, and interesting ideas from the minds of kids. This year’s KiDtalks focused on a “If I knew I couldn’t fail, I would…” theme.
This contest is called KiDtalk, the K is for Knowledge, the I for Innovation and the D for Deeper Learning. Knowledge, Innovation and Deeper Learning are three essential components of teaching and learning for Cobb students, according to Director of Instruction and Innovation, Melissa Morse. “This is a perfect combination of engaging student learning, using relevant social and video platforms to keep the connection real for students and letting student voice inspire. Our students love the challenge of high-level learning and the KiDtalk contest is the perfect forum for students of any age to make their thinking relevant and their insight be heard.”
KiDtalk contest was open to all students in the district. We had over 100 KiDtalk submissions from students in kindergarten to 12th grade! Links to the videos of the top 10 KiDtalk finalists were posted online over the past month. Online voting along with other factors were used to determine the winners. The 2016 KiDtalk winners are:
Timber Ridge Elementary
“Failure is Success”
Norton Park Elementary
“Help the Needy”
Kennesaw Mountain High
“No Racial Boundaries”
Thank you to all students who participated and congratulations to the top 3 winners. The 2016 KiDtalk winners will have the opportunity to share their ideas with all teachers in the district on July 25, 2016 during Learning Kick-Off.
