Wow, I can’t believe we have been in school for three weeks! The students are still working hard. We are starting to get into a nice routine! For those students in my Reading/Language Arts class, we are learning about compound words, words with the short a, punctuation, capitalization, sentence correction, and writing about everything we can! We are going to start something new beginning next week. We are going to have one-on-one sight word quizzes each week. You will get a copy of the sight words so that you can practice with your child. No two quizzes will be alike! They will be based on the words that your child did not know the previous week. The purpose is for the students to learn words that they will see frequently in texts to improve reading fluency. In our math class, our students are working on single and two-digit addition, subtraction, comparing numbers, place value, and counting money. We are also starting off each morning with a word problem, so that students can identify the operation and problem solve.
Thanks,
Mrs. Dickerson
