BIRTHDAY TREATS A student may bring a birthday treat to share with the class. The treat must be pre-cut and ready to serve to the students. Birthday treats should be dropped off in the office any time before lunch. Please send an email or note to the homeroom teacher if you plan to send in a birthday treat. After the fourth week of school, a parent signature will be required once a week on Thursday nights. BIRTHDAY TREATS A student may bring a birthday treat to share with the class. GRADES
Grades will be determined by performance on daily class work, quizzes, tests, and projects. Student effort and participation will also be considered.
HOMEWORK SCHEDULE
Math and Language Arts homework will be assigned Monday through Thursday. Science and Social Studies homework will be assigned as needed. In addition to the daily and year-long reading requirements, Reading homework will be assigned as needed.
MAKE-UP WORK
The student is responsible for collecting missed assignments the first day he/she returns to school. The homeroom teacher will have a folder of all make-up work to be completed. The student is also responsible for asking teachers for clarification of assignments, as well as scheduling make-up tests. Homework will be posted on class blogs.
MID-PROGRESS REPORT
A mid-progress report will be sent home by the subject area teacher at 4½ weeks if the student has an average of C or below. The report will be signed by a parent and returned to the sending teacher.
NOTEBOOKS
A notebook is required for each subject area. All class work and homework is filed in the student’s subject-area notebooks.
READING REQUIREMENT
SNACKS
Students should bring a nutritious snack to school each day. Water bottles are encouraged. Other drinks are not allowed.
TESTS
Tests are announced in advance.
THURSDAY FOLDERS
Students will bring home their RED folders each Thursday. Information will be placed in a pocket labeled “Keep at Home” or “Return to School.” Quizzes and tests that are graded will be in the Thursday folders for parent review. All GRADED papers should be signed by a parent and returned in the folder on Friday.
