I hope that everyone has heard about our new reading website. The children seem very excited about it. Please let your child go there to read books and take quizzes on the books they read. We are learning about Harriet Tubman and what she did that was important. We will be learning about the continents and oceans of the world next week. We celebrated the 100th day of school today. Thank you for helping your child collect 100 items. Next week is Groundhog Day and we will be talking about shadows. Have a great weekend!!

We had a fun week at school! We had guided reading each morning. We talked about synonyms, words that mean the same and main idea. We started new math and language arts centers. We will be having Money Monday, Timed Tuesday, Word Problem Wednesday, Telling Time Thursday, and Fraction Friday for Math this Nine Weeks. We started learning about Harriet Tubman in Social studies.  We have a GSU intern with us on Monday and Tuesday. Her name is Angela Franks. She will be helping in the classroom on those days. More information will be sent home about her.  Please help your child make a collection of 100 items for the 100th Day of School. They can bring the items to  school in a bag, box, or make a poster with the items. They are to bring them in next Friday, January 27th. This is the 100th day of school. Please make sure that the collection is of items that are not too large. Thank you!!  Have a great weekend!!

Welcome back to school!!! I hope everyone had a great winter break. There is no school on Monday because of the MLK Holiday. Report cards are coming home today. The report card is in the large envelope that your child is bringing home today. Please sign the signature card and return it to school along with the two envelopes. A list of the standards we will be focusing on for the next nine weeks is also included with the report card. Take time to look at the paper with reading questions for fictional and informational reading. Have a great three day weekend.

We had a busy week!  We had Super Specials and HTHT - Sounds Like. We were busy with assessments this week. We also did a writing assessment. We learned alot about plane and solid shapes. The children brought in shapes and told the class what shapes they were. The robots, animals, etc. that they created were great!! We learned about Lewis and Clark and Sacagawea. The class will be going on a Scavenger Hunt next week, just like Lewis and Clark went on an expedition. Our winter party will be next Wednesday. Have a great weekend!!                 There will be NO homework next week.

We have been busy learning about plane shapes and solid shapes this week. We also made a book about Landforms and made landform out of playdough. Next week we will learn about sound and magnets. We will also read about Lewis and Clark, and Sacajawea. It should be a fun week. Homework next week will be to find solid shapes around the house. A bonus homework project is to save solid shape containers(empty) and make a robot, animal, monster, etc. using the shapes. I usually do this project at school but we do not have time to do it at school this year. If your child does this project have them bring it to school to show us and tell the shapes they used. We had a busy week. Next Monday and Tuesday we will be testing Language Arts and Math. We will be giving the Cobb County Checkpoints. This will tell us what standards the children have mastered so far this year. We will be starting geometry in math next week. Your child's homework will be to construct some 3D shapes. Your child will need scissors and tape for this(and your help). We will be learning about magnets, landforms, and sound. Have a great weekend!!!

We had a busy week. We learned about Thomas Jefferson. Next we will be learning about landforms and magnets. We are excited about the Celebrate Families lunch on Thursday. We hope that everyone can join us at lunch at 10:51 to 11:21. Please come to our room after for a short program about Thanksgiving. Today was very special because we celebrated Our Blue Ribbon Award. Thanks for wearing blue today. Everyone received a free ice cream at lunch. Yeah Timber Ridge!!!
