FALL IS UPON US !!!!!!!!

Dear Parents,

 September has gone by so fast!  We are now in the season of Fall!!  I want to "Thank" all the parents who joined us for our Fall Carnival last Friday.  It was "Fun for All"!  I also want to "Thank" all the parents who volunteered to help with centers in our classroom  and the "Go Fish" game at the Carnival.

It has been exciting to watch the students learn in our centers.  They are learning the routine fast.  Some of the activites in our centers are:  Matching beginning sounds to the letter, identifying the long vowel sounds, sequencing picture stories, classifying pictures, sorting, graphing, counting numbers and sets, combining sets, reading and retelling the story on Graphic Organizer, matching blending sound to pictures, matching rhyming words, creating a "Leaf Person", read stories about "Fall", and listing things you would see in Fall. 

We will begin our unit on"The Farm" next week.  "Barney the Bus" will be visiting kindergarten at the end of next week.  The children will be learning about "Bus Safety".

We will be having Parent-Teacher Conferences October 24 - October 28.  I will begin my conference at 1:30 each day.  I also can schedule conferences before school starts on any day that week.  If you have a certain day or time you would like, please let me know as soon as possible.

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year!  This is an exciting time for your child, although they may be a little apprehensive about going to "real" school.  This first day of school will mark one of the most important milestones in your child's life. 

Be assured that I will do my best to make this school year an enjoyable time for your child, but also a time filled with real learning.  Please do not think your child will just "playing" all day!  The skills we practice daily in kindergarten are the building blocks for your child's future success in school and in life!

We will be spending the first few days of school helping students get to know one another and become comfortable with various classroom routines.  One of my goals is to help students become independent workers.  These next few weeks students will spend some time each day at various learning stations. working in small groups.  During this time we will emphasize the skills of completing work independently, and putting materials away.  As students learn to work on their own, it will increase our ability to meet with small groups of students, and to help students progress at their own pace.
